Olgelica, formally known as Urban Infinity was created in 2014. This blog was the starting point of exploring the digital world and getting introduced to building a website using Wordpress.com. This passion project showcases my earlier work as a creative writer combined with my interests of design.
Urban Infinity
Passioned about writing as a creative outlet, I explored ways of using the internet as my digital journal. Inspired by magazines such as Rookie Magazine, Meiden magazine, Hitkrant, CosmoGirl, Tina etc. I was fascinated by their creative ways of engaging me into their stories and introducing me to the latest trends or gadgets.
Urban Infinity represented ‘a city of thoughts’ a blog with thoughts about the present moment but also about a relationship with God. It was a blog about everything I found interesting, a space of ‘infinite’ topics to think or write about.
Olgelica
In 2018 Urban Infinity was changed into ‘Olgelica’ to fit the blog and the stories I posted. Olgelica is a personal name and holds deep meaning, loosely translated based on its origin it means ‘messenger of light’. The blog started to included more spiritual, philosophical and faith based posts that Olgelica seemed to be a more fitting name. Alongside the name change an Instagram account was created to gain more followers, build a community and share inspirational quotes.
Conclusion
This experience allowed me to shape my creative ability of writing and explore different ways of story telling. I experimented with stories from a personal perspective, combining Scripture with life events, from the perspectives of fictional or non fictional characters. Alongside developing my writing skills, I learned how to use Wordpress.com, understand certain codes to build my website the way I desired, but also on the usability on how visitors navigated through the site.
Urban Infinity was a passion project that turned into Olgelica and taught me skills which helped me to understand how a platform can be build. I developed as a creative writer and gained a basic understanding on how to build a website.
